Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Release Date Is Leaked A Little Early
On Monday, it was announced that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was set to make an announcement tomorrow. Most people people figured it was announcing the release date for the game, which had thus far remained elusive.
It turns out that those people were correct. NeoGAF users did some poking around on the IGN servers and found a video announcing the release date. The video confirms that the game will land on September 1st, 2015. Here is a screenshot of the release date as the video has now been taken down.
Hideo Kojima also stars in the video and talks about this being his final game in the Metal Gear series.
I always say this will be my last Metal Gear, but the games in the series that I've personally produced – Metal on MSX, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 3, 4 and Peace Walker – and now Metal Gear Solid 5 constitute a single Metal Gear saga.
With Metal Gear Solid 5 I'm finally closing the loop on that saga. In that sense, this will be the final Metal Gear Solid. To me, this is the last Metal Gear.
September seems like a nice little slot for the game. It won't have a lot around it in terms of competition, allowing it to dominate before the Q4 rush is really on.
