Spider-Man: Brand New Day Star Confirms Some Additional Photography
Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Tom Holland has confirmed they are shooting some additional photography that is "really, really fun," but the film "works and sings as it is."
Article Summary
- Tom Holland confirms Spider-Man: Brand New Day is filming additional photography before release.
- Scenes being shot are described as "really, really fun" and not essential to the film's story.
- Holland reassures fans the movie already "works and sings" and these changes are just enhancements.
- Reshoots are common for big-budget films, and not a sign of trouble for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
This is going to be one of those things people panic about, and even though the turnaround time is pretty tight, it's not entirely unreasonable for this studio. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in general, has felt like a movie destined to sprint to the finish line once it was set for a summer 2026 release. It's been over a decade since the final Avengers post-credits scene was filmed after the premiere, so we know how close all of these things can be. So, star Tom Holland, telling GQ in an interview that they are currently shooting some new stuff that is "really, really fun," but specifically noting that it is not things that would make or break the film, is a very deliberate choice by all involved.
"I can positively say that the stuff we're doing, we don't need," he explains. "The movie works and sings as it is. We're just adding the icing on the cake in certain areas. We're finding some ways to add a little bit more humor. We're layering in a villain plotline in a new way and some really fun stuff."
These days, people freak out when they learn about any reshoots or additional photography, even if every single film does them if they have the budget to do so, and of course, Sony and Marvel have the budget for a Spider-Man movie. So hearing that they are adding in a couple more things to Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the 11th hour doesn't mean everything is on fire and the movie is going to be bad.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day – Summary, Cast List, Release Date
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he's devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. It will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
