Spider-Man Spin-Off 'Silver And Black' Finds A Director
We got Venom cast so now it's time for Silver and Black, the Silver Sable and Black Cat spin-off, to start finding a crew. Gina Prince-Bythewood, who wrote and directed The Secret Life of Bees, has been brought on to direct the project according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie has an October 2018 release date and is looking to start production in the fall so casting should be announced soon. Chris Yost (Thor: Ragnarok) is writing the most recent draft of the script and Lisa Joy of Westworld has also worked on the script.
Sony is in the midst of creating their own Spider-Man spin-off universe despite the fact that Spider-Man himself is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The announced Venom movie with Tom Hardy and now this will stand apart from the MCU.
Prince-Bythewood wrote Love & Basketball in 2000 and went on to direct and write Beyond the Lights in 2014 and The Secret Life of Bees in 2008, co-create Shots Fired for FOX, and will direct the pilot of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger.
