Star Wars: Battlefront Dev Claims To Not Be Saving Anything For DLC
EA have a tendency to go a little overboard with DLC. It's one of the reasons that the company has a problematic relationships with gamers on the internet. They just don't trust that EA isn't going to cut up games and try to take every penny they can from their wallets.
I personally think this is a little over exaggerated, but it is hard to deny the presence of this corporate mentality.
Some gamers have already turned their sights to Star Wars: Battlefront as a possible victim to DLC carving. DICE producer Jesper Nielsen took to Reddit to try and alleviate these fears. In a post he said:
I cannot stress this enough; there will be more than 8 maps! Also, the amount of content in the game has absolutely zero to do with DLC. I can say that with all honesty.
As for expanding on strengths of the previous games; I think most people will find that it does expand on the strengths of the previous games, when it comes to core gameplay and what the feeling of a Battlefront game is. Just my two cents.
Please don't make me break what I can and cannot say, but if you think there's anything we're not including in the game to save it for DLC, I can tell you you're 100% wrong. In this project, I've never heard anyone say 'Let's not do this for launch so we can do it as DLC instead'. Ever.
Of course, whether you take that at face value is another thing. Right now, the only DLC annoucned for the game is free, so everyone screaming that the sky is falling is reacting somewhat prematurely. I'm keeping an eye on it certainly, but I'm still pretty enthusiastic for the game.
