Supergirl Season 3: Psi Is A More Powerful Telepath Than J'onn J'onzz

In our second clip from tonight's Supergirl, we get to see a showdown between Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the new psychic villain Psi (Yael Grobglas). With no defense against mental attacks, Supergirl is vulnerable but J'onn J'onzz (David Harewood) tries to help out with less than stellar results.  If Grobglas looks familiar, she's been on two other CW series in the last couple years, Jane the Virgin and ReignSupergirl

Psi is a long time (thought not often used) character from the Supergirl comics having first appeared in 1982 and most recently as part of the New 52 in the Justice League storyline Forver Evil. Not surprising that they didn't use her orginal comic costume that looks like something straight out of the Dejah Thoris collection.

And her powers seem to have changed some from the comics where she had almost everything from mind control, telepathy, telekinesis, mental force fields, etc… but not the power she has in the show to tap into a persons worst fears. She may have had that ability, but it was what she did the most. Here is the official synopsis:

Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), a thief with psychic powers, attacks National City. Able to immobilize people by tapping into their worst fears, Psi proves a formidable opponent for Supergirl. Meanwhile, James (Mehcad Brooks) and Lena (Katie McGrath) are at an impasse, and Samantha starts her new job at L-Corp. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn

Supergirl airs tonight at 8 PM on the CW.
