Warner Bros. Continues Their Search For Penguin in "The Batman"

Matt Reeve's upcoming DC project The Batman has recently found two of the three villains said to be in the film, and now the search for the final Gotham based criminal continues. After the announcement of Jonah Hill's choice to pass on the film and the news of Paul Dano playing The Riddler, reports are now stating DC and Warner Bros. are actively on the hunt for the Penguin yet again.

The Batman is certainly one of DC's most anticipated films on their roster and after the debacle of whether or not Ben Affleck would return as the caped crusader, Robert Pattinson was selected to be the next Bruce Wayne. When it began to generate more buzz with trio of rumored villains for the film, it was recently confirmed that we'd be seeing Zoe Kravitz come on-board for the film as the DC staple, Catwoman. This week we learned that Dano would be the first Riddler since Jim Carrey in the 1995 film Batman Forever and now via Deadline, the film is still moving forward seeking the addition of the Penguin.

The report states the Hill was eyed for the role but because of his desire to play Riddler, his negotiations fell through — leaving room for one more villain. While not much is currently known about the plot or how these three villains will fit into the film, this new direction for WB/DC could be giving us a stacked film with no shortage of characters.

Catwoman, Riddler and Penguin are said to "haunt" Batman in the Reeve's film, giving the impression that they'll have history as opposed to your standard origin stories. With The Batman being labeled a noir, "very personal" story about the Dark Knight and three iconic villains making an introduction to the new DC cinematic universe, there's a lot of promise regarding the future of Batman.

Now that we're only missing Penguin, who do you think would be a good fit for crime lord Oswald Cobblepot?

The Batman is currently slated for a June 21, 2021.
