Warren Ellis Talks Global Frequency TV – With More TV To Come. Is It All Geoff Johns' Fault?

Warren Ellis has written in his newsletter (sign up here) a few details regarding the new adaptation of Global Frequency into a TV series.

My graphic novel GLOBAL FREQUENCY is set to be adapted for television again. DC Entertainment bought the option and took it to Jerry Bruckheimer's house, where I've always had friends. Rockne S. O'Bannon is writing the adaptation for KristiAnn Reed and Jonathan Littman at Bruckheimer — you may know him from FARSCAPE. The pilot has a production commitment at the FOX network, which means that FOX have to shoot a pilot or pay a financial penalty. To Bruckheimer, sadly, not to me. I had a long conversation with Rockne the other week, and have spoken to Geoff Johns, who I suspect was behind the whole caper, a few times during the process. People have knee-jerk issues with FOX, but my dealings with them have always been decent and direct. One day I'll be able to tell you the full story of GLOBAL FREQUENCY's many lives in television over the years. Anyway. That's a thing that happened!

I am told that I will likely have more tv-related news after the American Thanksgiving period.

It is clear that Marvel's Agents Of SHIELD was heavily influenced by both the Global Frequency comic book by Ellis and friends, and the previous TV pilot. Joss Whedon is a great admirer of Ellis' work, and it's quite likely that a few things… seeped between them.

So, basically, look forward to people saying how much of a ripoff of Shield, GF is, like they did with Watchmen and The Incredibles
