Watch It While It Lasts – Winter Dragon, The Wheel Of Time Prequel

Last night FXX aired a quickly put together half hour preview/pilot for an adaptation of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time called Winter Dragon. There is some controversy as to the rights to film the prequel as the estate had no knowledge of the project nor the airing… it seems to have been a move by Red Eagle Entertainment to retain the rights that would have expired on Wednesday, February 11th. Its said it was filmed only last week over just a couple of days. At least they got Billy Zane. For more information, check out this write up.

The story is simple, Lews Therin Telamon, The Dragon (Max Ryan) has returned home after a 10 year war against the darkness to his house with his wife and children when Ishamael, The Betrayer of Hope (Billy Zane) comes calling to reveal the truth… The whole thing takes place in two rooms, has 4 adults and 2 children and only 2 of the adults, Zane and Ryan) have any real lines. Both actors seem to give it their best, but there really is nothing for them to work with here.
