SyFy's new series the Expanse stars Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Steven Strait (Magic City), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Grimm) and Paulo Costanzo (Royal Pains) and is based on series of novels by James S. A. Corey (the collective writing name of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck). The series was described as a "kickass space opera" by George R. R. Martin and is considered by fans to be the sci-fi equivalent to Game of Thrones.
Hundreds of years in the future, humans have colonized the solar system. With tensions rising, Earth, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt are now on the brink of war. When a young woman goes missing, a detective, a politician, and the rogue crew of a spaceship are drawn into the greatest conspiracy in human history.
