Why Christopher Plummer Turned Down The Role Of Gandalf

Ian McKellen was not the first choice to play Gandalf the Grey in the Lord of The Rings films. The role was offered to Sean Connery and Christopher Plummer prior to the now almost synonymous face taking the part. Plummer recently visited Conan where he talked about why he turned down the role, playfully hating McKellen for doing such a great job. He also talks about why he never wants to retire and his secret to long life.
