Xbox One Best Selling Console In December While Wii U Has Best Month So Far
The Xbox One is on the up and up which is good to see. The games market is a healthier place with two major games console operating at their best. Before the console launched, it looked like it could be in a lot of trouble with it's own PR problems which weren't helped by Sony who famously laid a bit of a corporate beat down on Microsoft during E3 2013.
The console has since righted itself and in November, it outsold the PlayStation 4 for the first time. According to NPD, that streak has continued as the Xbox One has repeated in December. Microsoft confirmed the news and commented saying:
Xbox One became the best-selling console in the U.S. in November and December and weekly average sales during these months outpaced Xbox 360 by 50 percent at the same point in its lifecycle.
The Xbox One isn't the only console on the rise either. NPD also revealed that the Wii U had it's best month ever in December too. This was no doubt brought about by the release of Super Smash Brothers and the incredibly popular Amiibo figures.
That is encouraging to see. I love the Wii U and it's great to see it get some love finally. It still has a long way to go to reach anywhere near the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One numbers, but I'm happy to see it rising.
