Titmouse Inc. Talks New Shows And Paul Rudd Film
By Alex Roberts
Companies use a wide range of tactics to make themselves visible through the crowds and sprawl of San Diego Comic Con. There are vastly different booths, advertising methods, panels, interviews, party buses, giveaways- you name it, someone has tried it. Enter Titmouse– the company behind the beloved Venture Brothers and Metalocalypse shows on Adult Swim. Their preferred method of visibility is the Titmouse RV- making its rounds of San Diego and picking up stray friends and reporters.
In talking with Titmouse owner Chris Prynoski, the RV is less of an advertising gimmick and more of a clever way to take on the chaos of San Diego Comic Con. Rather than paying for a hotel and rides, fighting across town and trying to find places of calm in the storm, they have opted to rent an RV each year and tackle San Diego on their own terms. I had a chance to ride in the RV and talk to them about their new and upcoming projects.
Brad Neely's Harg Nallin' Sclopio Peepio– The creator of China, IL and consultant for South Park brings his unique sense of humor to Adult Swim's only new television show for this season- a sketch comedy of songs, short skits, and routines. Debuting on July 10th, the show is preparing to drop its third episode this upcoming weekend. Chris was nice enough to bring this one up first, sparing me the embarrassment of trying to accurately pronounce the name.
Little Big Awesome– This Amazon-only show is one of the delightful rare breeds that is aimed for children but still packs the laughs for adults. It draws on the voice acting strengths of Fred Tatasciore and James Arnold Taylor to tell the tale of two friends on a great adventure to stop mischievous kittens.
Son of Zorn– Premiering on Fox on September 25th, this live-action/animated show boasts Jason Sudeikis, Cheryl Hines, and Tim Meadows leading its cast. Following the adventure of a barbarian pulled straight from a world that is a little too reminiscent of He-man, he discovered the son he fathered with a woman of our world is about to come of age. Entering our world to help his son transition into manhood, he is shocked to find a vegan, conscientious, and starkly not-barbarian child awaiting him.
Nerdland– Titmouse's first feature film, Nerdland, is a wild and adult-humor filled animated movie starring the voice talents of Paul Rudd and Patton Oswalt. As two Hollywood losers about to hit their 30th birthdays, John and Elliot are desperate to achieve overnight fame by any way necessary. The result is one insane plot after another to make their mark on history. In case you didn't think it sounded ridiculous enough, this movie was written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the writer for Se7en– you know, the movie with a sexual murder suit and a head in a box. Not only are the stars and writer enough to make you look twice, but the cast is rounded out by Mike Judge, Molly Shannon, Hannibal Buress, Kate Micucci, Paul Scheer, and other glowing cameos.
