Agents of SHIELD: Simmons and Cordova-Buckley Talk the Final Conflict with Kasius
If you think about it, there is a lot of pairing up on Agents of SHIELD. There is Fitz (Iain de Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) from season 1 on, Coulson (Clark Gregg) and May (Ming-Na Wen) that's been hinted at a while. Daisy (Chloe Bennet) with Grant (Brett Dalton) and then with Lincoln (Luke Mitchell). And of course Mac (Henry Simmons) and Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley). The agencies anti-fraternization policy seems to be getting ignored… a lot.
This last episode spent time with most of those couples… Daisy isn't a couple right now as everyone she dates seems to die… with Mac and Yo-Yo getting a bulk of the screen time. The folks at EW.com got a quick Q&A with Smmons and Cordova-Buckley and the two shared a few interesting tidbits about what we may be seeing next.
When asked about Kasius' newly mentioned 'seer', Simmons said:
Let me tell you, when I first found out who this person is, I was shocked. People say, 'Oh, it's shocking,' but no-no-no, I was shocked.
Cordova-Buckley added:
You have no idea…. You have no idea.
And since it's a time travel story where they team has gone back in time multiple times… it really could be just about anyone. One of the interesting theories online is that Deke (Jeff Ward) might be related to Fitz and Simmons or Flint (Coy Stewart) might be Mac and Yo-Yo's grandson.
Asked if any of the future characters might be related to ones from the present, Cordova-Buckley said:
Look, you're sort of on the right track, that there might be connections.., But, again, we have not found out if there's any connection between us and Flint, and we have not found about the other connection you just made. I'm hoping that Flint has something do with us. I want to adopt him and just bring him back [to the present]! I want to have him in my house every day, because I love that kid so much!
As for what is next on the series, now that the team is back together and Kasius (Dominic Rains) has a few less soldiers, Simmons says:
The revolution has started, and there has to be a culmination to it. There has to come a point where Kasius and people from our team come to a head, where there is a final conflict. It has to happen — and it will happen.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Fridays at 9 PM on ABC.
