Baron Corbin Decrees Lowly Matt Riddle Not Ready for Kingly Feud

Baron Corbin is the Ratings King of Friday Nights, but up until now, he's been a magnanimous ruler. How often does King Corbin involve himself in feuds with mere peasants, often allowing himself to be degraded by oafs like Otis or pretty boys like Roman Reigns? But at least, when it comes to those guys, Corbin is competing against somebody on his own level. But when WWE wants Corbin to work a high profile program with a main roster rookie, well, that's when The King draws the line.

The report comes from Gary Cassidy at Sportskeeda. Though I usually don't trust any man named Gary after I discovered a bunch of suspicious texts on my wife's phone one time, in this case, the rumor seems legit, and it's probably not the same Gary. Gary lays out the situation in a series of tweets. "Sources have indicated to me that, while the plan is for a Matt Riddle vs. Baron Corbin rivalry going forward, Corbin only recently found out about those plans and wasn't too happy with them – insisting that Riddle should have to defeat five enhancement talents before facing him," said Gary. "Meanwhile, the plan for Matt Riddle's first major opponent outside of NXT to be Baron Corbin has been in place for a while – as illustrated at both Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. The plans for Riddle to debut on SmackDown and work with Corbin were ramped up back in March."

The Bottom Line 'Cause Chad Said So

It's about time my favorite wrestler starts demanding some respect. Earlier this year, I was arguing with my wife Keighleyanne about how Baron Corbin hasn't had a world championship run yet, even though he's clearly the best heel in WWE. I know that Keighleyanne is as sick of Corbin not being at the top card as I am because she was so frustrated she totally ignored me, and I ended up just ranting about Corbin by myself while she fiddled around her phone. I asked what she was talking about, and she said "Baron Corbin's push," and I knew she was telling the truth because she looked like she was getting pretty hot about it, and that's how I feel when I think about Baron Corbin's push. Anyway, it's time that WWE recognizes what Keighleyanne and I have known all along: Baron Corbin is The Guy in WWE, and damn right Matt Riddle ought to fight five jobbers before facing Corbin. And when he does face The King, we all know who better go over in that feud.
