Domino Day: BBC Conjures Preview Images for New Supernatural Series
BBC released preview images for Domino Day, its upcoming 2024 supernatural series about a young witch on the streets of Manchester.
Here's one to watch out for: Domino Day, an original new supernatural series created and written by BAFTA-nominated Lauren Sequeira and produced by Fremantle's Dancing Ledge Productions for the BBC. Supernatural and Science Fiction series on British TV are a bit rare these days unless they're called Doctor Who, and hopefully, this one will have a bit of an edge.
Set and filmed in Manchester, the supernatural six-parter stars the BAFTA-nominated Siena Kelly (previously in Adult Material and Hit & Run) as Domino Day, a young woman on all the dating apps. But Domino isn't swiping to find her soulmate – she's swiping to hunt. A young witch with extraordinary powers, Domino is desperately seeking a community that can help her understand who she is, but she doesn't need to look far, as a coven of witches is already tracking her every move, convinced they have to stop her before her powers destroy everyone and everything around her. When a dangerous figure from Domino's past comes back to haunt her, will it be a fresh start for them all or a final showdown?
Alongside Siena Kelly, the cast of Dominio Day includes Babirye Bukilwa as Sammie, Poppy Lee Friar as Geri, Alisha Bailey as Kat, Molly Harris as Jules, Sam Howard Sneyd as Silas, Percelle Ascott as Leon. The series also stars Lucy Cohu, Christopher Jeffers and Jonah Rzeskiewicz and Maimuna Memon. Look at them – they're all good-looking like they're in a CW show! Well, in the heyday of the CW before that network got rid of all the shows that appealed to young people rather than exhausted parents now.
Domino Day creator Lauren Sequeira says: "I cannot wait for the world to meet this amazing cast, led by the sensational Siena Kelly. Don't expect broomsticks, pointy hats, and wands — these are witches like you've never seen before; cool, provocative, and full of grit. They are all simply spellbinding onscreen, and Siena is the perfect Domino Day."
Domino Day will arrive in early 2024 on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. It will probably end up on one of the US or global streaming services shortly after.
