When Fox announced that they were canceling Lucifer after three seasons and one hell of a cliffhanger ending the fan reaction was loud. Almost immediately fans took to social media to see if they could get someone to pick up the show for another season to resolve that cliffhanger ending at the very least. The cast also did their part going around and promoting the show to see if someone else would pick it up. In the 11th hour, right before the casts contracts were set to expire, Netflix picked up the show for a fourth season. That four season premiere on Netflix about a month ago and while Netflix doesn't release full numbers the season has been doing very well. It seems that it is doing well enough that Netflix is going to give the show another season and the chance to end on its own terms.

"We're thrilled that Lucifer fans around the world have embraced this series on Netflix, and we can't wait to give them the big finish they've all been waiting for," the streamer said in a statement.
Meanwhile, showrunners and executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson expressed how grateful they are not only to Netflix but the fanbase for giving them the chance to end the show on their own terms.
"We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms," series executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson said. "Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!!"
The fourth season of Lucifer is currently streaming on Netflix along with the previous three seasons from Fox.
