Prison Break: A Sixth Season is in Early Stages of Development
After five seasons of Prison Break, don't you think that any warden in the world who saw either Michael Scofield or Lincoln Burrows transferring into their prison wouldn't just break into a cold sweat immediately? This series is starting to be less Escape from Alcatraz and more Now You See Me. But fans came back to see Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell pull their latest vanishing act last year, and that's good enough for Fox.
At the Television Critics Association winter press tour today, Fox president Michael Thorn told reporters that they are currently in development for another iteration of Prison Break. "It's in very early stages of development, but we're really excited about it."
And they're not thinking of rebooting the franchise. Fox Chairman and CEO Gary Newman said the new season "would not [feature] an entirely new cast," and that series creator Paul Scheuring "had an idea for another season. He came in and pitched it. But it's super early. We haven't seen any written materials yet."
This doesn't come as too big of a shock as Purcell began teasing a possible season 6 / second revival was in the works on social media about a month back. The season 5 revival was nine episodes long and ran through the months of April and May of 2017.
