Setting the NFL Playoff Picture and Schedule

As of yesterday the 12 teams in the NFL playoffs locked in their spots and the 20 other teams started booking their vacation plans. Some times knew a while back that they'd be working into the new year including New England, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia while Buffalo probably had to call and cancel a tee time or two. Here's a quick look at who made the grade and when they will play.

NFLThe AFC starts out as no surprise with the New England Patriots (13-3) in the stop spot. They have a bye week next week and will play the lowest ranking team left when they host a game in the divisional round on January 13th.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (13-3) are the second seed and also have a by week. They'll host their divisional round game on January 14th against the highest ranking winner from the wild card round.

Speaking of the wild card round, the fourth seeded Kansas City Chiefs (10-6) will host the Tennessee Titans (9-7) on January 6th at 4:35 PM ET, while the Jacksonville Jaguars (10-6) host the Buffalo Bills (9-7) on January 7th at 1 PM ET.

Over on the NFC side, the top seed is the Philadelphia Eagles (13-3) who are going into their divisional round game on January 13th with some big question marks after losing starting quarterback Carson Wentz. They will host the lost ranked winner from the wild card round.

While the second team in the NFC, the Minnesota Vikings (13-3) wait until January 14th to host the highest ranked team from the wild card round. The Vikings are also without their starting quarterback, but they've been dealing with that for most of the season and doing fine.

On January 6th, the third seed Los Angeles Rams (11-5) will host the sixth seeded Atlanta Falcons (10-7)  at 8:15 PM ET, while on Sunday at 4:40 PM ET the New Orleans Saints (11-5) will host the Carolina Panthers (11-5) who they've already beaten twice this year.

Three teams from the NFC South made the playoffs, New Orleans, Carolina and Atlanta.

Both participants of last years Super Bowl, New England and Atlanta, are back in the playoffs again.

Though Philadelphia locked in their playoff spot the earliest and is tied for the best record in the NFL, they're considered an underdog since the loss of Wentz.
