WWE's Corey Graves Flees Twitter Like a Scalded Dog
WWE announcer Corey Graves has a self-cultivated reputation as a guy who speaks his mind, even if what he has to say is controversial… so long as it's approved by his bosses at WWE, of course. Styling himself as a modern-day Bobby Heenan, Graves is the voice of WWE Smackdown on Fox and the host of the WWE After the Bell podcast. He's also outspoken on Twitter, where he's been involved in feuds with wrestlers such as CM Punk. But not anymore.
Graves was seen running like a scalded dog Monday when he deactivated his Twitter account. No one seems to know why, but Graves has expressed issues with social media before. Back in 2018, shortly after his feud with Punk, Graves said, "Unfortunately, social media has become a very toxic place. People don't know where to draw the line. It's become more exhausting than productive to me. Some things in life are more important than "likes" and "followers." I urge you to explore that. Deuces! 😘" Nobody really knew what Graves was specifically talking about, though most would probably generally agree about the social media service.
Graves continued to post on social media after that, of course, and he'll be back from his Twitter hiatus within thirty days, which is the time Twitter gives you before someone else can snatch up your Twitter handle. Until then, we'll have to wait to see if Graves addresses his hiatus on his podcast, or if some new scandal arises to explain Grave's preemptive flight. Maybe he's just stressed out due to all of the social distancing guidelines that are surely impacting his beloved landscaping. Or maybe he's just trying to generate interest in the next episode of his podcast. Either way, Twitter will be quieter for the immediate future without ol' Corey Graves around.
