The Great Mighty Avengers Conspiracy Of 2013
So, there are potential Age Of Ultron #10 spoilers in this post. You may wish to read the comic when published tomorrow, and then return. Consider this a potential, albeit speculative, spoiler warning. Onwards.
Mighty Avengers was announced recently as a superhero comic with a team made up mostly of black characters. There were exceptions, White Tiger (Puerto Rican) She Hulk (white-turned-green) and Spider-Man.According to CBR, Tom Brevoort talked about Spider-Man, being the Otto-Inside Superior Spider-Man.
The Superior Spider-Man will also take a part on the team, though with the mind of Otto Octavius in the driver's seat, questions abound as to his motivations. "He's not going to miss a giant, horrible thing happening in the middle of New York," he said of the "Infinity" launch for the series. From there, Otto takes a "Who do you people think you are?" approach to the new team trying to protect "his" city, and his place on the team will be a rather antagonistic one as he forces his way into the proceedings.
Tomorrow, Age Of Ultron #10 is published. And within its pages are the suggestions that something universe-splintering has occurred.
And suddenly a theory that had been mooted to me a few weeks ago, but I ended up dismissing because it felt too far fetched, is that the Spider-Man in Mighty Avengers is not the white-on-white Superior Spider-Man, but in fact Ultimate Spider-Man, crossed universe and now fighting alongside his new teammates.
And that, even if the Ultimate Earth is destroyed, and we get an ad suggesting that possibility in Age Of Ultron #10, Ultimate Spider-Man will continue. Just over on 616.
This is still all conspiratorial speculation. But suddenly it doesn't seem too far fetched anymore…
