Former Lucasarts Art Director Wants To Share His Bad Dreams

Gary Winnick writes for Bleeding Cool:

Hi! I'm Gary Winnick, the co-creator of Lucasfilm's Maniac Mansion and Art Director of Lucasarts for its' first decade. I've worked at a lot of high profile companies over the years. But working for someone else has never given me the true sense of accomplishment I have from writing and drawing my first complete graphic novel 'Bad Dreams'.

I spent the last three and a half years nights and weekends working on the approximately 150 pages of story and features to serialize and finish this book. Why are we here? What's life really about? Will you ever be happy? I really can't answer any of those questions, but I do know that there's more going on in this world than meets the eye.

This is a chance for us to get back to our personal creative roots. You know when you were back in grade school, (maybe you're still there now…) and you had that amazing epiphany about your creative potential; maybe you wanted to build a functional robot out of cardboard boxes, or a rocket to the moon out of that old refrigerator sitting in the dump (stay the heck away from that bucket of tetanus!). Maybe you wanted to write and draw your own comic books… I did and still do, and with your help I promise to bring you on a mystical adventure through the corridors of our imaginations.

I'm truly passionate about this work and wouldn't pitch it if I didn't have full confidence in its potential. That's why I've taken it to kickstarter.

If you can help me raise our goal, it will open the door not just for Bad Dreams, but a number of future projects I have waiting in the wings. Check some of these out at my site.

If you back Bad Dreams, I won't forget your help. Remember, it's the audience of like-minded individuals that matters, not the financial whims of monolithic media conglomerates. Additionally, anyone who reads this article and backs the Bad Dreams kickstarter  through the link from Bleeding Cool (just send us a personal message through kickstarter along with your pledge stating "Backed through Bleeding Cool" between now and November 30th, 2013 and if we achieve our funding goal you'll receive a special limited edition signed postcard print I will create especially for this posting.

So please check out the story and art, if it resonates with you, like us on facebook and back Bad Dreams if you can.
