Daniel Brühl And Luke Evans Sign On For The Alienist
Daniel Brühl (Captain America: Civil War) and Luke Evans (Dracula Untold) have signed on to the new TNT series The Alienist based on the novel by Caleb Carr.
Brühl will play Dr. Laszlo Kreizler who specializes in mental pathologies (also called an alienist) who is called in by police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt to to help solve a series of gruesome murders involving boy prostitutes. Evans plays John Moore, a reporter and old friend of Kreizler and Roosevelt is looking for a motivational spark and sees the investigation as a chance to snap out of his funk.
The show focuses on the use of early forensic investigation techniques to track down New York City's first serial killer. Theodore Roosevelt was Police Superintendent from 1895 to 1897. He went on to be Governor of New York and eventually President of the United States.
The series will be filmed in Budapest and scheduled for TNT in late 2017. It will be directed and executive producer by Jakob Verbruggen (Black Mirror).
