Captain Marvel Will Be Set In The '90s And Feature Skrull Fighting And A Two-Eyed Nick Fury

Coming out of the Infinity War panel at San Diego Comic Con's Hall H tonight was some news we've all been waiting for — if you have any sense of taste, that is. Marvel is going to be giving us a Captain Marvel movie at some point down the long line of films lined up, and the studio confirmed that the film will be set in the past.

While details on the project are still slim, we know that movie will be set in the '90s and will focus on Carol Danvers fighting off the Skrulls during their first appearance — meaning that they predated Loki and his Chitauri by a good couple decades in the MCU timeline. But really, it can't be Captain Marvel without Skrulls, can it?

As the film is set way back in the days of MC Hammer and parachute pants, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury will have functional use of both of his eyes. That's right, an eye patch-less Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. And I'm actually a bit sad about that, to be honest.

So, Jackson is confirmed for casting and that's…about it. What role Nick Fury will play we don't know, just that he'll be a major character alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers.

We'll update you on this as we hear more.

Twitter has some images of the film for those hungry for more news, so, here's your first look at Captain Marvel:

And our own Kaitlyn Booth was able to snag a few shots, as well.
