Disney World Is Preparing For Hurricane Irma: What You Need To Know
Hurricane Irma — the current weather system that has laid waste to about 90% of Barbuda — is currently heading to Florida, after hitting Puerto Rico. Currently, it's too early to tell if it will make landfall, but forecasts are predicting that it will hit by the weekend. With winds at 185 MPH, this is considered a category 5 hurricane, which is the highest. Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is already preparing for the storm with the following announcements:
Disney's Blizzard Beach will be closed on the 8th and 9th.
The Aerophile balloon in Disney Springs will also be closed so it can deflate and be grounded.
The flags on Cinderella castle have been tied down.
Disney Cruise Line has also canceled three upcoming cruises and cut a few short, so they can bring their ships to port.
Update: Disney World has posted their hurricane policy for guests;
