Canadians tired of using coins with polar bears, beavers, or Dave Coulier on them will have another option — as long as they're attending Central Canada Comic Con this weekend. The Royal Canadian Mint is issuing a series of Justice League coins that will be available at the show, with art by Jason Fabok and Brad Anderson. One of them is even lenticular! The coins will be available in the following denominations:
a 25-cent cupro-nickel lenticular coin animating all six members of the Justice League;
a trio of 1oz. fine silver coins with a $20 face value, each featuring a pairing of super heroes (Cyborg and Superman; Batman and Aquaman; The Flash and Wonder Woman);
a $30 fine silver coin celebrating "The World's Greatest Super Heroes"; and
a $100 14-Karat gold coin entitled "United We Stand".
To get your hands on these, Canadians, all you have to do is visit the Mint booth at the convention. And if you do it during the following times, you can meet the artists as well:
Friday October 27th, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, October 28th, from 10 a.m. to noon
Sunday October 29th, from 10 a.m. to noon
But if you feel like carrying around these Justice League coins would make you feel like a hoser, there's also some lenticular Queen Elizabeth II coins available as well. Damn. Canadians have free healthcare, and cooler money than we do? What a ripoff!
A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.
Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
