DC in DC: MLK Weekend Filled with DC Superheroes and Premieres
Over the Martin Luther King weekend, Warner Bros. TV, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment are teaming up for DC in DC, and event that merges the combines the DCU and public service in Washington D.C. It brings together the producers and stars from shows including Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Black Lightning and Freedom Force: The Ray, writers and artists from DC Comics and invited guests from politics, government and business.
DC in DC takes place Friday, January 12th and Saturday, January 13th and will feature a series of panel discussions on comics, culture, entertainment and enlightenment that will be open to the public. This will be taking place at the Newseum and will be capped off by a premiere screening of Black Lightning at the Warner Bros. Theater in the Simthsonian's National Museum of American History. That will be followed by a party at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Participants include Black Lightning stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin "Krondon" Jones III, Damon Gupton and James Remar along with executive producers Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil; plus executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter (Arrow, Black Lightning, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl, upcoming Titans) and stars Caity Lotz (DC's Legends of Tomorrow), Candice Patton (The Flash), Danielle Panabaker (The Flash), J.W. Cortes (Gotham), Russell Tovey (Freedom Fighters: The Ray) and others to be announced.
DC comic book writers and artists such as DC Entertainment's Jim Lee, Julie Benson, Shawna Benson, Shea Fontana, Agnes Garbowska, Tom King, Steve Orlando, Alice Randall, screenwriter John Ridley, Mark Russell, Mariko Tamaki and DC Entertainment's Geoff Johns.
Some other highlights from the vent includes a premiere showing of the animated feature Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, and panels focused on comic book art, DC heroes through the African-American lens, the Art of the LGBTQ inlcusion and a spotlight on Wonder Woman.
