The Dreamer Gets a New Look for Malifaux 3E
Wyrd Games just previewed the new Dreamer box set for the upcoming Third Edition of Malifaux, and it looks like our favorite sleepy-time fiend and his friends have grown up a bit!
This week, we're revealing that the Dreamer and his Nightmare crew have all grown up. It seems that Lord Chompy Bits' Earthside exploration into the minds of the weak-willed and fearful during the Homefront event has proven bountiful. With Lilith out of the picture and Meridion focused elsewhere, Nytemare is finally ready to have some real fun.
We heard some rumors that Wyrd would be moving the Malifaux storyline forward a little, and from the look of Dreamer, we can pretty solidly confirm that. The Dreamer is unique in the world of Malifaux, in that he's actually a sleeping kid in England who has somehow bent the reality of the other world to suit his dreaming whims. Now, things appear to have changed, as his home in London was destroyed by the earth-side emergence of the Burning Man, and its subsequent destruction of the city.
We couldn't tell if Dreamer has made it to Malifaux in person yet, but he looks like he's grown up a bit, and really wants to bash someone's teeth in!
Lord Chompy Bits is the Dreamer's will worked into flesh; he's actually the elder Tyrant Nytemare, who has been allowing the Dreamer to rampage through Malifaux since it seemed like a lot of fun. Dreamer had no idea that his "games" in Malifaux were actually hapenning in real life, and Lord Chompy Bits was all too happy to gobble up hapless participants in Dreamer's fun.
Poor Coppelius! His fine clothes the from second edition look pretty tattered and beat up. He was an excellent skirmisher, it will be interesting to see what changes are in store for him!
Alps are the cannon fodder of Nytemare's realm, but these guys look a lot bigger and nastier than they did before!
The new Dreamer set will probably come out later in 2019 as Beta Testing commences on the new edition of Malifaux. Speaking of Beta Testing, Wyrd is opening that phase of the game's development on January 16th, and it's open to just about anyone! If you've always wanted to take part in seeing how a game comes to fruition, here's your chance.
