There is plenty to talk about in the final issue of Miracleman: The Silver Age by Neil Gaiman, Mark Buckingham, Jodie Bellaire and Todd Klein published today. And we will. But one aspect to underline will have to be just how beautiful this comic book is, depicting a utopia that isn't. I was most blown away by the stereotypical Yorkshire village that never quite existed in previous issues, but today we get… Australia.Neil Gaiman And Mark Buckingham WIll Being Us Miracleman: The Dark Age

But we also get a promise. This is the conclusion of the second book of Gaiman and Buckingham's story that followed the Alan Moore/Garry Leach/Alan Davis/Chuck Austen/Rick Veitch/Steve Bissette/John Totleben Marvelman/Miracleman saga. Gaiman and Buckingham's first book of the sequel, The Golden Age, told 30 years ago, looked at the intricacies and eccentricities of this supposed perfect world, with some of the imperfections that make up any life worth living. The sequel, The Silver Age saw a new perspective on this world, the Captain America/Adam Adamant/Demolition Man/Brave New World story of a man out of time and place, trying to fit into it, or at least workm out what has happened and what is going on. And maybe do something about it.

And now we have a new promise. As planned all those decades ago and coming to fruition. The Dark Age. It is coming. We don't know when. Maybe they will tell us. But for now we have a promise.
