Rachel Reed Leaves Oni Press… for Love

Oni Press Marketing Manager Rachel Reed announced her departure from the company on Friday. In a Twitter thread, Reed explained her reasons and heaped praise on her former employers.

HI YES HELLO so big (and unfortunately sad)—I am no longer working at Oni Press. I'm devasted by it, but I had to make a choice between my job and my relationship. It's not a decision I wanted to make, but at the end of the day, the people you love are what make life worth living

Oni Press is an amazing company, and I've loved every minute of my time there. I was a college graduate goofing off on Twitter, but Oni Press liked my ideas and brought me out from Texas to Portland. It's been an absolute honor to be a part of the wonderful work they're doing.

Unfortunately this ruins the plans we had for our move. I'm unemployed and living at my parents' house. And while I want to stay in the book industry it's not an easy option to find where I am. Hopefully I won't be gone too long as I find something to support myself financially🤞

I haven't figured out what I'm going to do yet—maybe I'll go onto teaching or becoming a libriarian. For now I'll probably look for something more low-commitment until I figure it out. If anyone knows of any jobs around Houston and Galveston, or remote work, I'm all ears!

Making a heroic sacrifice for love… is this the plot of a comic book?! It's hard not to admire that. It also seems like a no-brainer to offer Reed remote work if you need a little comics PRing done around the house. Come on, people. It's the 21st century!
