A Comic Show – Star-Lord, Superman, And Saga!
Aaron Haaland of A Comic Shop in Orlando, Florida, writes:
Hey Fandom, here's the new A Comic Show video. I'm Aaron of A Comics Shop, filming in our Geek Easy bar. This week's Guardians of the Galaxy features Star-Lord's secret sin after the end of Thanos Imperative, you know where he and Thanos make it back, but Richard Rider doesn't. I'm not saying this issue is Richard Rising, or even gives us all the answers, but at least they are finally coming. DC's biggest deal this week was Geoff Johns' Superman. It's managed to come out on time, and since it's Johns, I love it. This new "Last Son of Earth" is the perfect foil for our truly isolated last Kryptonian.
Saga's out again, and is still my favorite book. It's just so freaking sad lately, it's starting to remind me of my first marriage. Outcast continues to build, and maintain my interest. Wayward really was like a Buffy for 2014. POP #1 is something to behold, sure it's a great premise executed well, and social commentary. It also feels like I may have just been introduced to one of my future favorite writers too.
Over in franchised comics land, we got Bob's Burgers #1 by people who work on the show. If you like the show, you'll love the comic. I've been watching the series all day, and added burgers back to the Geek Easy menu in honor of the release (they come with a lollipop). Transformers vs GI Joe #2 made it to Earth this week as well. It is my favorite team up of the two yet, if you love either of these franchises, you need it!
That's it for this week, I'll be gone for the next two week in Malawi, Africa doing grief counselling with orphans of AIDS. It's the type of work I've been doing locally after my friend Triforce Mike died, just ramped up and in Africa. I'll be back!
