A Comic Show – Convergence, Why You Gotta Be Like That?
Aaron Haaland of A Comic Shop in Orlando, Florida, writes:
Hey Fandom, I'm back with more New Comics Now! My favorite book of the week is Image's Kaptara #1 by Chip (Sex Criminals) Zdarsky, subtitled "Space, Why You Gotta Be Like That?" It's about a guy that doesn't really know his place in the world who gets lost on the planet Kaptara. But does he even want to be found, or is Keith, Prince of the Dance Floor finally at home? Millar's MPH is out in collection, pop some speed and read it in one sitting. Lady Mechanika continues it's streak of actually coming out on time. And Uncle Scrooge #1 is here telling old duck tales to new kids.
Marvel's Squirrel Girl vs Galactus is a KO. Black Vortex wraps up and both All New X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy launch their next arcs with new cosmic upgrades. Also there's and all new gay X-Man!
Convergence #3 was more of the New 52 Earth 2 heroes running amok. Thomas Wayne's scenes again were the highlight. The Convergence tie-ins fair better this week in my opinion. Green Lantern Corps #1 was a love letter to Guy Gardner, the one true Green Lantern! New Teen Titans is prue Wolfman era nostalgia. Swamp Thing is Len Wein's return to Alec Holland. I explain what fans should do with Convergence as a whole. Bottom line is even if choose not to read the main book, don't deny yourself the joy of a tie-in featuring your favorite hero or era!
