Speculator Corner: Supurbia, Hell Yeah And The Manhattan Projects One Day Later
Bleeding Cool looked at recent speculator fueled demand for a number of comic books recently, resembling the speculator boom that occurred around the release of Chew and other Image titles a couple of years ago.
Supurbia #1 took the crowd. It rapidly disappeared from shelves, and by the end of the day, a copy sold for $16.50 on eBay. Reviews have been extremely positive all round, and demand seems to be building on this one – fueled by a very low print run. The second print is already on the way.
Hell Yeah #1 had more copies available and is selling copies at $8.50. However the Hell Yeah ashcans, numbered 200 are sold at the Image Comics Expo for $5 each, modelled on the old Maxx Ashcans have sold for $40. The second print is already on the way.
Retailers seem to have had more confidence in The Manhattan Projects, with a larger order and print run. As a result, a copy managed to sell for $5, but mostly seems to be available at close to cover price. You shouldn't lose money with this one though.
Next week? Saga. Could go either way…
