Shea Fontana On Quarantining The Justice League

The Justice League has taken on some of the most powerful villains imaginable, so writer Shea Fontana went the opposite way with Justice League #22. A deadly infestation appears on the satellite and the team must be quarantined while they search for a cure. Adding to the interest is that not only is the team there, but so are Lois Lane and Jonathan Kent.

In an interview with DC All-Access, Fontana tells us that the issue is all about Green Lantern Jessica Cruz. She and Simon Baz are the ones who bring the micro-organism to the satellite, but it's about Jessica's inner turmoil and how she views herself as part of the league rather than how the others view her.

Fontana says she was inspired to do the story from reports of viruses like the common cold evolving and leaving us with no cures, and how antibiotics have made viruses stronger. She decided to take that to an alien perspective. This is Fontana's first chance to write the Justice League, but she hopes to do more in the future. Next from the writer is a five-part Wonder Woman story that was announced back in April.

Justice League #22 is on sale today.
