Thor's Secret Origin Revealed in Next Week's Thor #10
Thor, like the rest of the Marvel Universe, is heading quickly toward War of the Realms, Marvel's biggest-ever super-mega-crossover event that kicks off in April. Next week's Thor #10 certainly looks toward that dark future of tie-ins, crossovers, extraneous event mini-series, and variant cover madness, with Odin drunk and depressed in Asgard while Malekith campaigns to rule all the realms.
But the All-Father also takes a moment to reflect on his parenting skills, which have not been very good. He also reveals why Thor was named the God of Thunder.
At least they didn't name the dog Thor.
Thor #10 hits stores next Wednesday.

ALL-FATHER ODIN, FATHER OF RUIN! ROAD TO THE WAR OF THE REALMS!
For months, the realms have burned with the flames of Malekith's war, while Almighty Odin did nothing. Now Asgardia is lost in the sun, the Rainbow Bridge is shattered and the All-Father sits alone in the empty ruins of Old Asgard, drunk on mead and despair. If Odin is going to save what's left of the realms, he'll have to undertake the most difficult labor of his very long life. Not by being the omnipotent All-Father, but by finally being just a father to the mighty Thor.
