Brittany's 2019 Games of the Decade: Devil May Cry 5
When it comes to choosing the games that defined the decade for me, it's always difficult to look back on and remember exactly which titles ended up becoming the ones that would eventually change my perspective as a gamer. But 'tis the season for gathering some of my absolute favorite titles, and gushing over exactly what made them so important to me in the first place. Rather than boring everyone with a list that seems to scroll on forever, I've decided to break up some of my choices into individual entries for your entertainment.
Strap in. It's going to be a wild ride.
Devil May Cry 5
Rarely do action games get so much right as they do in Devil May Cry 5. After a fantastic showing with the detour DmC: Devil May Cry, Capcom took over once more for a new numbered entry in the series. It reintroduced Devil May Cry 4's Nero and several new characters, including the raucous Nico, who made for some hilarious interactions between some traditionally stoic personalities.
Combat is sharp and precise, over-the-top, and rife with power struggles between larger-than-life warriors. There's also a big reveal for series fans that feels like it's been a long time coming. Devil May Cry had to make a huge splash if it was to return properly, and that it did. Now we can't wait to see what the future holds for the sons of Sparda (and family).
