Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Retroactively Gets Microtransactions

modern warfare

There are a lot of great things about gaming today. The sheer breadth of content and quality is the best it has ever been, and there are so many platform options full of different price points. However, there is also some not so cool stuff, from pre-order culture, broken launch games and microtransactions.

Well, here is a weird instance of the old and new colliding. It's been announced that Supply Drops are now in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as of the last update, and along with that, they will be purchasable with Call of Duty Points, a currency you can buy. Supply Drops can of course be earned in game without dropping money into the title too, but it does mean, microtransactions are now in a game not just after launch, but also a remaster of a game that didn't have them originally.

This is a somewhat bizarre happenstance, and a sign of the times, for sure. I can't imagine this will be greeted with open arms, especially as you can only get the remaster by purchasing another game.
