Civilization 6 is Coming to the Nintendo Switch This Year
2K Games has announced that Firaxis Games' Civilization 6 is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
I think most people who have played a Civilization game know it's thrall. There you are, it's late afternoon and you set up your first city. You'll only play until dinner, you have some TV shows to catch up on. Fast forward to 3 am, you are cursing to the skies about the war pact Gandhi and Genghis Khan have forged in order to topple you. The game just has a magic to it that makes it truly hard to put down.
And now… you may not even have too. 2K Games announced that Civilization 6 is coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. Originally set to be revealed during the postponed Nintendo Direct, the website for the game is now live providing some details. This will be a new version of the game, and it will release on November 16, 2018. The website claims that the Switch version will include the 'latest game updates and improvements' but also come with this extra content:
Vikings Scenario Pack
Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack
On top of that, there will also be a four-person local multiplayer option. It only being local seems odd, as getting four people to stay on the same network, playing Civilization 6 until the wee hours might be tough, but it's nice the option is there.
This really is quite an inspired choice, as now you can keep building away at you civilization at home, on your commute to work, your lunch break, every now and then when someone isn't looking. You can play Civilization where ever you go now… well, until your Nintendo Switch battery runs out.
