Crackdown 3 Was Apparently Delayed to Make it Better
One of the biggest disappointments coming out of E3 was the news that Crackdown 3 was delayed, yet again, all the way until February 2019. But now we may have an official answer as to why the game was delayed for a third time, and the answer comes down to refinement. In an interview with GameIndustry.biz, the change was made to make the game look better than what it is, as Sumo Digital's Managing Director Paul Porter says they're basically fixing a game that's complete.
"By creating a good game," he laughs. "It's a bit of a glib answer, I'm sorry, but as you know the release date's moved back, confirmed as February next year, and that's great news because it gives us the time to polish a game that's pretty much done, but make it better and better.
"The way to make the best games is you finish them, then finish them again, and then finish them again. That's what we're doing with Crackdown 3."
Seeing as how we have yet to even play a full long-version demo of Crackdown 3, we find that explanation a little hard to swallow. The short demos people have been trying out for the past couple years seem alright, so one would assume we would have had something a little more concrete by now if all it needs it a fresh coat of paint and some tweaking.
