Death Stranding is Running "A Little" Behind Schedule
Hideo Kojima's mysterious Death Stranding appears to be running a bit behind schedule on the development side. The game is now behind on the internal planned release date, according to an interview with Kojima on J-Wave News.
According to IGN, Kojima explained the delay, saying, "It's common for studios to fall behind their planned release date, and Death Stranding is very slightly behind our initial plan, but not behind by much."
Considering the multiple rumors and suggestions we've heard for Death Stranding release dates, we're not exactly surprised to hear the game is running late. At one point, Kojima even teased that the game would release before 2019, and that clearly didn't happen. So, who knows?
As IGN reports, Kojima went on to discuss the difficulties in creating an open world game that requires constant adjustments and playtesting, so perhaps that's the reason for the delay.
What we do know at this point is that Death Stranding is still moving along in development, so will hopefully release sometime soon rather than getting stuck in development hell. Other than that, well, there's something about a throat baby, robots, energy harvesting, and we're not sure exactly how all the pieces of the game fit together.
