DeNA and The Pokémon Company are Working on Another Mobile Game
We might be seeing another Pokémon mobile game sooner rather than later, as DeNA and The Pokémon Company are reportedly working on another mobile title. This will be the first mobile Pokémon spinoff since Pokémon Go launched in 2016.
However, instead of being an AR game by Niantic, this Pokémon game will be developed by DeNA. We don't know much about the game other than the fact that it's in development already and was announced in an investor's meeting in Japan yesterday.
The news was shared by Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki on Twitter.
DeNA is the developer of several Nintendo-licensed mobile games like Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. They're also co-developing the upcoming Mario Kart Tour mobile app. However, they've also worked with licensed properties outside of Nintendo to create games like the Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Star Wars: Galactic Defense, and Attack on Titan: Tactics.
As DeNA have worked on several types of mobile game, we can't accurately predict what kind of title their Pokémon game will be, though guessing it'll be an RPG is probably a solid choice. It's possible we'll hear more about the game during Nintendo's E3 Nintendo Direct presentation, but it may be too early in development for that.
