Diablo 4 was finally announced during BlizzCon 2019. Shocking, right?

Blizzard gave the fans what they wanted this year during the BlizzCon 2019 keynote, opening the entirety of the show up with this  visceral new cinematic. It's clear from its first few moments alone that this new footage truly is indicative of a gritty new beginning for the series.

But there wasn't just a great-looking cinematic scene to pore over. Never fear, as there was also a bit of gameplay to devour as well. Sweet, sweet, gory gameplay.

As you can see, Diablo 4 is looking pretty sick. It's got everything you could want from the series as a fan and more. Except this time, it certainly doesn't look like the developers came to play.

According to Blizzard, the game is poised to utilize new tech:

"Diablo 4 is being developed using modern technology that pushes the franchise to dark, new depths. This technology is at the heart of everything players will see, hear, and feel — delivering much higher fidelity and a more engrossing experience. It opens up countless possibilities for the Diablo series, from smooth character animations, such as the Druid's fluid shapeshifting, to the seamless, vast overworld players will travel across in search of the next loot-filled underground dungeon. Ultimately, Diablo 4 will ground players in a grittier and deadlier world."

There's no release date for the latest entry in the series just yet, but hopefully we won't have to wait long to get one. This game is looking devilishly good.
