Former Sony CEO and Epic Games to Produce PC-First Indie Games

Sony's former CEO of PlayStation, Jack Tretton, has teamed up with Epic Games to provide a number of pc-first indie games under Tretton's game investment fund. Interactive Gaming Ventures will support the development of interesting indie games made with Epic's Unreal Engine 4.

The news is ideal for UE4 devs who want to fund their games without giving up IP control of their games to a major publisher.

From Gamasutra:

The partnership should be of particular interest to UE4 developers hoping to solicit funding without ceding control of their intellectual property in the process, especially if those developers are looking to ship first on PC.

Interactive Gaming Ventures is looking to invest in two to three experienced indie devs per year over the next seven years, with each investment falling between $1 million to $5 million per project.

Developers supported by this initiative will receive funding for milestone deliverables as well as assistance with promotion and distribution. Specifically, the company is looking for developers planning to bring a game to PC first and console or mobile later on.

Interested devs can reach out to Interactive Gaming Ventures through its website for more information.

While it may seem a bit odd for the former head of PlayStation to make an investment fund for primarily PC games, Tretton is one of the reasons why the PS4 became the indie developer console of choice. And its not like the IGV games are PC-only.
