The Game Awards Triples Its Audience Over Last Year

The Game Awards have come a long way. Not too long ago, they came in the form of VGX and that thing was… let's say, not great. Even from their Spike days, the awards seem to have moved on to focus on the community and tap into something there. It's not perfect and it's still good for a shareable mishap, but on the whole, it's a good show. The Game Awards Triples Its Audience Over Last Year

The community is responding in a big way too. Taking to Twitter, host Geoff Keighley revealed that this year, the show was viewed by 11.5 million people. That is just the small matter of the show tripling its audience in a year.

Really, I've become steadily impressed by the Game Awards as the years have gone. It has an E3 standard of reveals, and despite how you think games are nominated or voted on, it is giving the gaming scene a major show to come together and celebrate the year around (past the also excellent BAFTAs). Personally, I think that is a good thing.
