If the latest rumors are to be believed, it sounds like we may be getting a brand new Banjo-Kazooie game coming from Xbox Games Studio. If you were to take a poll of '90s titles that people wish there was a brand new video game for, Banjo-Kazooie would probably be in the top five, if not number one. The last game from the franchise was 15 years ago when Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was released for the Xbox 360. Since then, the last really great cameo we got of the duo was in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when they were added to the roster as one of the playable characters. A lot of people took this as a sign that we might be getting an all-new game, but then it just went radio silent for a while.
Then, a few years ago, it came up that there was a game in the works, which got a lot of people excited until there just wasn't any news coming out about it, and most people assumed the project was dead in the water, if it was even being worked on, to begin with. That's how it's been until this past week when a random person hitting up gaming insider Nate Drake about it got an interesting response. According to a forum post from Drake, which was shared on Twitter/X, the game is still active but only recently got the go-ahead from Xbox Game Studios to start work.
Even though there haven't been any leaks or hard facts released about it yet, if it is true, the idea that it's being worked on as we speak gives hope that it will see the light of day maybe in the next year or two. All we can do now is kick back and hope it doesn't get canceled.
