'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' Aiming To Be Completed By Year's End
Score this as another goal H1Z1 has yet to do, as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is aiming to be completed within the next six months. In an interview with RockPaperShotgun, creator Brendan Greene handed out this tidbit of information at the end of the interview relating to the development team's goal for the game's release so that it isn't sitting in Early Access for the next three years like DayZ or H1Z1.
It's something a lot of people don't understand and they get a lot of hate because of that. I just try to correct them whenever I can. It's like, listen, guys, they will get finished. Companies are not going to abandon games like that, you know? People say, 'oh, DayZ will never be finished,' and of course it will. People tell us we're not going to be out of early access in six months; challenge accepted. I can guarantee you, six or seven months and we're out of early access. It's the team. It's a matter of honour, you know? We will finish this game in six months.
That's a pretty awesome thought that they don't want the game to continually sit in this state of limbo where it's finished but not finished. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is already a success at this point and probably going to be a hot contender for many 2017 game awards and "best of" lists. Along with all the new content that's frequently being updated and added to the game, I can't see how they could screw it up before the year is out.
