Rhythm Heaven Is Not Dead Yet, It Can Dance And It Can Sing
The rumors of Rhythm Heaven's demise appear to be greatly exaggerated. The series is not dead, it's just been mostly dead. There's a difference, you see.
While interviewing Metroid co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto about the revival of the Metroid series a little while back, Eurogamer also asked about the fate of the Rhythm Heaven series. Recent reports have suggested that the series was dead and no longer in development at Nintendo.
Sakamoto replied somewhat vaguely saying,"We generally don't comment on those kind of rumors, but I don't remember us ever saying it was over. Generally speaking, if there's an opportunity, a motivation, a need, we consider all opportunities and leave the door open. That's all I can say."
When pushed directly on whether or not the series was finished Sakmoto simply said, "No, it's not dead."
The last entry in the franchise to be released was Rhythm Heaven Megamix initially in 2015 for the Nintendo 3DS.
So we might be seeing Rhythm Heaven back in our lives, but probably not sometime soon.
