Sega has announced four new games ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games being held in Tokyo next year.

The four games, and associated facts, announced are:

  • Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game
    • to be released in Japan and Asia this summer for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch
    • worldwide release will follow in 2020
    • a "fun-filled sports action game where you can create your own avatar and compete in Olympic Games events with people around the world."
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
    • to be released on the Nintendo Switch during the Winter of 2019
    • similar to previous Mario & Sonic titles released by Sega during previous Olympic games
    • collection of mini-games themed around different sports
    • will use Joy-Con features for motion tracking
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (Arcade)
    • like with the Rio Olympics, this will use physical inputs like jumping rather than Joy-Con features
  • Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
    • to be released on iOS and Android in 2020
    • casual title
    • uses touch controls
    • social features

The games were announced during Sega Fes 2019, as Sega has the exclusive rights to publish games based on the Olympics. Sega Fes 2019 marked the first time Nintendo's mascot Mario appeared at a Sega fan event, which is kind of cool.
