Sega May Release the Next Yakuza Game This Year
In their latest investor report, Sega has included a note that the next main game in the Yakuza series might be launching in the current fiscal year. Which means it could release before March 31, 2020. This is far from a hard release window, but it is the first time Sega has discussed a release for the next Yakuza game.
What we do know about the next Yakuza so far is pretty slim. We know the game will follow a new protagonist named Kasuga Ichiban rather than Kiryu Kazuma, and that the game will launch on PS4. Kasuga Ichiban is also the main character in Yakuza Online which is a Japanese mobile title.
Sega will reportedly release more information on the next mainline game in the Yakuza series in July.
For now, fans of the series can look forward to Judgment launching exclusively on PS4 on June 25, 2019. Judgment isn't a Yakuza game, but it is a spinoff. Granted, it is already available in Japan, but Western audiences still have a bit of a wait time. The game made headlines recently for having to recast one of its actors due to a drug scandal.
