Snorlax Raid Spotlight For Animation Week 2020 In Pokémon GO

Snorlax is a Normal-type Pokémon from the Kanto region that can currently be battled in Tier Three raids in Pokémon GO. While this Pokémon is a bit of a tank, it can be successfully defeated by solo trainers. This Raid Spotlight will give trainers everything they need to know about this Generation One favorite, including its 100% IVs and the top counters to take down this hibernating hitter.

Snorlax evolves from the baby Pokémon Munchlax and, in Pokémon Sword & Shield, it will receive a Gigantamax form, but that's getting way ahead of ourselves. Snorlax is also not released in its Shiny form in Pokémon GO, so this isn't a raid that Shiny hunters will want to do a ton of if they're not also looking to build candy to power-up a Snorlax. On that note, though, Snorlax is a terrific choice for the GO Battle League and is among the top choices of those who choose to fight in the Master League Premier Cup.

The top Snorlax encounters will be made up of all fighting types. Your best bet is a Lucario with Counter and Aura Sphere, followed by Conkeldurr and Dynamic Punch. The Psychic-type Mewtwo also gets a Fighting-type Charged Attack with Focus Blast, but your best bet is to go with Pokémon whose typing matches their attacks. This is because a Fighting-type Pokémon with a Fighting-type attack gets something called STAB: Same Type Attack Bonus. This increases the damage output of an attack.

When looking for a 100% IV Pokémon, Snorlax's top CP in raids is 1843 in normal conditions and 2304 in boosted conditions. Raids have an IV floor, guaranteeing that your Snorlax won't be… you know, terrible. If you're looking for a Snorlax for Master League, you're going to absolutely want it to have the top IVs in order to be competitive, so get out there and raid.
