Square Enix Announces A North American Final Fantasy Trading Card Tournament
This one might baffle even me, and we all know I am a fan of all the Final Fantasy news I can get. Square Enix today announced the inaugural Final Fantasy Trading Card Game (FFTCG) Opus Series North American Championship. Because, yes, there is of course a Final Fantasy TCG, and of course there are enough players of it for a North American championship series. The Final Fantasy TCG does indeed use real cards, and the rules are pretty similar to Magic: The Gathering with a few major differences.
FFTCG players from the United States and Canada are invited to come together and battle using their ultimate FFTCG deck, not for money but for a chance to represent North America in the FFTCG World Finals later this year. The top four semifinalists will win a six-day, five-night trip to Tokyo to compete in the FFTCG World Finals in November.
The tournament will be held at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel (5711 W Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045) on September 16-17. Players of the FFCG who wish to participate can purchase tickets to play in the tournament here.
The NA Championship Tournament is open to all legal residents of the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec), ages 18 or older. The registration period begins on July 13, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. (Pacific time) and concludes on September 14, 2017 at 11:59 a.m. (Pacific time) or until Square Enix receives 200 valid registrations. So if you are interested in testing your FFTCG deck skills, you might want to hop on this quickly. The tournament will take place on September 16, 2017 and September 17, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. For entry and official rules with complete eligibility, prize description, and other details, visit the FFTCG NA Championship website.
